I consider myself to be from the Pacific Northwest, or specifically Everett, WA.  I was actually bounced around quite a bit as a child and attended 8 different schools, some of them multiple times.  My roots however are grounded in the PNdub.  (We don’t say the full “W” where I come from.)

After the college experience, I went to work in the corporate world.  A big insurance company, where I was quickly moving up the ladder, great pay, decent benefits, and stability.  What I thought was the American dream!  I loathed it, and started hating myself.  I specifically remember this moment I was walking up an open staircase at work and looking out over the rat maze of our desks.  I wanted to cry.  Not only that, but people hated my existence as an adjuster.    After 5 years, I had enough.  I craved more from life and wanted my experiences with people to be more positive.  After doing some soul searching, my path lead to massage school.

Massage has been the perfect fit for me.  On the one hand I’m extremely nerdy, so I love the scientific nature of it.  Anatomy.  Kinesiology.  Physiology.  I devour it.  I’m also intrigued by the science meets intuition side of things.  I really don’t think one can exist without the other, so in the great massage debate of metaphysical vs. scientific, I exist in the middle.

Beyond my core training, I participated in a hospital internship and have taken additional classes in reflexology, myofascial therapy, and thai massage.  I’m also a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and the Florida State Massage Association.

In 2006, I decided I was tired of being cold and wet.  I packed up my car and cat and drove across the United States to Panama City.  Shortly after my arrival, I started Balance and Peace.  I’ve been fortunate enough to grow and prosper over the years, especially given the nature of our economy recently.

I am thankful for the clients that believe in me and massage therapy.  I honestly would not exist without them!  I hope to continue letting people know that massage is for everybody.  It’s not a luxury.  It’s not for the rich.  It’s not just a fix for pain.  I'm a great massage therapist, so whether you've never had a massage before or are a massage pro, you won't be disappointed giving Balance and Peace a try!

You can also find me on twitter and Google+

Nationally Certified Therapist in Massage & Bodywork and Pilates Instructor

Annette offers cranial sacral therapy, lymphatic drainage, and myofascial therapy, and deep tissue massage in addition to sports rehabilitation bodywork, detoxification counseling and Pilates Exercise training.

Annette started with a background in the field of dentistry for nearly 25 years. She is a registered dental assistant, and has worked in every aspect of a dental office as well as consulting in many offices. However, the more she learned about dentistry and health in general, she realized there is more to achieving a healthy body than healing symptoms and chasing pain. She has received her training in Cranial Sacral Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage, Emotional Release Therapy from the Upledger Institute, and a degree in Medical Massage from the The Ohio College of Massotherapy, a branch of The Ohio School of Medicine. Through this education she was able to add proficiency in Sports Massage and Myofascial Release Therapy to her repertoire.

Annette has also spent two years working in a luxury day spa….so if pure relaxation and pampering are on your agenda, she can fill that ticket as well.

Annette's long time love of running has led her to the world of marathon running. However, after sustaining a skiing injury 9 years ago she was fortunate enough to be introduced to the rehabilitating principles of Pilates Exercise. She was so excited about these principles and how they complimented her bodywork training that she decided to become certified in teaching Pilates on both the Mat and Reformer from Polestar Neuromuscular Education System. She also holds a certificate for Cardio Heart Rate training and is an active member of IDEA, The Health and Fitness Source.

Her multiple experiences of detoxification, running, Pilates, and body work, have taught Annette how a body can move and flow with fluidity as it was meant to do. She enjoys anything involving that movement, such as swimming, hiking, cycling and yoga and believes you can too.

I graduated the massage therapy program from Haney technical center of Panama City  in 2010. Since graduating the program, I dabbled around in a few spa atmospheres until I found my niche, what and how I really enjoyed practicing. My specialties include Hot stone therapy, integrative massage, deep tissue therapy, and pregnancy massage.

What I love about practicing massage therapy is that I am always learning new techniques, that massage is so open, and that massage allows me to constantly learn more and grow as a Massage therapist.
It is my goal to help you find your sense of balance and peace.
